New Mayor for 2008/9
The Town Council elected a new mayor at its Annual Meeting on 13 May.
Councillor Kay Gilder has taken over as the Town Mayor of Woodley from
outgoing mayor, Shelagh Flower. The Town Mayor chairs meetings of Full
Council and represents Woodley at Civic and other events.
 

Grants Awards
Pictured with the former Town Mayor Shelagh Flower are the recipients of the
most recent grant awards made by the Town Council - Woodley Town FC, 1st
Woodley Boys Brigade, Woodley Older People Forum, Earley and Woodley Stroke
Club, Woodley Netball Club, Woodley Volunteer Centre, The Woodley Pilot
Light Trust and Tianee Buckley ­ a member of Reading Synchronised Swimming
Club.  Grants were also made to RELATE Berkshire and Vitalise
Citizen Award Winners - 2008

Charlie Shutter - nominated by Les Eke. Volunteer work with the Air Cadets and with the youth at Bulmershe Youth Centre.
Mick Clapham - nominated by Les Eke. Many years as Special Constable; involved with Police Awareness and Emergency Service courses. Helps special needs group at Bulmershe Youth Centre.
Karen Burrows - nominated by Diane Reeves & Pauline Needham. Involvement with Girl Guides.
Diane Avenell - nominated by Sue Williams & Bill Rodda. Involvement with Woodley Hammers Football Club.
Geoff Etridge - nominated bu Colin Galbraith & Ken Fostekew. Involvement with the Museum of Berkshire aviation.
