Reading Credit Union (RCU) opened
its service at the Oakwood Centre on 22 September and will be there every
Tuesday from 1.30 – 4 pm. RCU is a financial cooperative providing community
banking. It is owned and controlled by its members and regulated by the
Financial Services Agency. The aims of the cooperative are to provide a quality
and ethical banking service to the community and to encourage saving and offer
affordable low interest loans to its members. Residents and people working in
Woodley can join or find out more by calling in to the Oakwood Centre on Tuesday
afternoons or visiting the main RCU offices at 58 London Road, Reading. Their

Councillor Kay Gilder, Town Mayor
of Woodley who welcomed representatives from RCU on their first day at the
centre said “I am delighted to welcome Reading Credit Union to the Oakwood
Centre and to Woodley. I hope that many residents will take the opportunity to
use their banking services to take advantage of secure savings and low cost
loans, which are especially important in the present economic
climate”.
